Russ Thompson, Ed.D.

My dream of becoming a writer started at Whitworth University. I was lucky to have a teacher, Dr. Tammy Reid, who believed in me and encouraged me.

After college, I began a career as an educator, teaching reading and English at a middle school in Los Angeles. I then went on to earn a doctorate in education from UCLA. I served as the principal of three high schools. I also served as a district administrator. I spent a lot of time working with at-risk students, and I experienced first-hand the need for more books to help reluctant teen readers.

My wife and I live in Long Beach, California. We have four adult children and eight grandchildren.
